What Is the Coaches Thriller AI Trend?

The AI TikTok of college football coaches back from the dead, doing Thriller for Halloween: where it came from, why it hit, and how to lead the zombie line yourself.

Last updated: 2026-11-01

Coaches Thriller AI is an AI video trend from TikTok: college football head coaches in their team jackets and sideline headsets, “back from the dead” for Halloween, doing Michael Jackson’s Thriller zombie dance together on a blue-lit stage at night. It started with one post by The Burner (@theburnerfromhe11) on October 26, 2026. The AI version on this site puts the person, or the pet, from one of your photos in the lead zombie spot, headset and all.

Where It Came From: One Cursed TikTok

The trend started with a TikTok post by The Burner (@theburnerfromhe11) titled “College Football: Coaches Back From the Dead 🧟‍♂️💀 | Short Version Thriller”. It went up on October 26, 2026, runs about 18 seconds and carries the label “This video is AI-generated”. By November 1, 2026 it had 214,100 views and 20,800 likes.

The hashtags tell you the vibe: #CFBSlander, #CFB, #CollegeFootball, #halloween and #MichaelJackson. It comes from the same account behind the AI Tiny Desk parody.

The format spread fast. On October 27, 2026, @thedungerzone posted the same zombie dance led by a sheriff in a cowboy hat with a street full of zombies, and that one had 179,900 views by November 1. Same moves, different lead: that’s the whole trend.

Why It Hit: CFB Slander Meets Halloween

  • CFB slander. That’s the TikTok genre that roasts college football teams and coaches. Making the head coaches into dancing zombies is about as slander as it gets.
  • Halloween week. The post was made for Halloween, and Thriller is the classic Halloween party dance, so you don’t need to know a single depth chart to get the joke.
  • The look. Team jackets, sideline headsets, claw hands. Head coaches in play-calling gear doing the zombie shuffle is the bit.
  • Anyone can lead. People now want the same video with themselves, a friend, a teammate, their own coach or their dog as the zombie coach.

The Song and the Dance

The song is “Thriller” by Michael Jackson, from his 1982 album Thriller. The famous 1983 short film was directed by John Landis, and the zombie dance was choreographed by Michael Peters with Michael Jackson. It’s a classic Halloween party dance, which is exactly why the coaches are doing it.

What the AI Version Keeps, and What Comes From Your Photo

From the trend:

  • a dark stage at night with deep blue spotlights and haze (sometimes the AI keeps your photo’s own background instead)
  • a black sideline coaching headset
  • a line of zombie backup dancers in team jackets and headsets
  • the zombie routine: a screaming close-up at the lens, the stiff-shoulder shuffle with claw hands, stomping forward, a high kick and spin, head rolls and shoulder pops, and a finale with one arm thrown up to the sky
  • fast cuts between close-ups and wide shots
  • the original Thriller sound from the trend’s TikTok post

From your photo:

  • your face, hair, skin tone and body
  • your own clothes, with the headset on top and a pale zombie-ish face
  • or your pet, standing upright and dancing with its front paws

The routine is written for the generator beat by beat after the trend’s post. It isn’t a copy of the original video, and the coaches from the original don’t appear in yours.

Make Your Own Coaches Thriller AI Video

Upload one photo in the generator, pick 6, 10 or 15 seconds (6, 13 or 20 credits), and a few minutes later you get a vertical 720p MP4 with the Thriller sound already on it. The person in your photo keeps their own face, hair and clothes, gets a black sideline headset and a pale zombie face, and leads the zombie line on a blue-lit night stage. A pet works too: it stands up on its back legs and dances with its front paws. There is no watermark, and the video stays in your account to download or share to TikTok. The full walkthrough is here: how to make a Coaches Thriller AI video.

Join the Trend Without Getting Benched

  • Use your own photo, or get permission before putting a friend, teammate or coach in a video. Everyone shown must be 18 or older.
  • No celebrities or public figures, and that includes famous college coaches. The AI provider’s content review refuses those photos (your credits come back automatically).
  • Label your clip as AI-generated when you post it, like the original did.
